Lateral ankle ligament reconstruction-avoid the nerves
Once the skin incision has been made for lateral ankle ligament reconstruction the fat layer should be dissected bluntly with fine dissecting scissors. The plane of
blunt dissection should be at 90 degrees to the skin incision . One is aiming to identify and avoid the superficial peroneal(1) and sural (2) nerves.
