Calcaneal osteotomy - Mobilising the heel
Once the osteotomy is completed there are several manoeuvres which will assist in mobilising the heel. Initially placing a laminar spreader into the cut and "jacking out" will help as will using a McDonalds (2) and carefully probing/stripping soft tissue attachments and periosteum both sides of the osteotomy medially.
