PATIENT POSITIONING: supine with ipsilateral sandbag and well padded bowl beneath calf

TOURNIQUET: thigh

ANAESTHESIA: general

NERVE BLOCK: femoral and sciatic

KIT REQUIRED: DePuy ACE nail, large power driver, De Soutter small power saw, single sided large reciprocating saw blade, laminar spreader, Hibs and Lambotts osteotomes
