The skin incision runs from just lateral to the antero-lateral portal (1)and superficial peroneal nerve(marked in blue) back towards the peroneal tendons(2).
A blunt dissection at right angles to the skin incision and in the line of the sural and superficial nerves is undertaken to iscolate these.
