Lateral release-Horizontal capsulotomy
A horizontal capsulotomy(1) is performed ,at the level of the MTP joint and just above the lateral seasamoid.
If in the correct position synnovial fluid should be immediately seen. If not a second parallel incision can be used ,a few mm above or below ,the initial lateral release capsulotomy.
