Ankle fusion-Fibula soft tissue restraints

Ankle fusion-Fibula soft tissue restraints
The fibula soft tissue restraints which will need to be divided are the interosseous membrane, anterior and posterior Tibio-fibula ligaments, Anterior talo-fibula ligament and calcaneo-fibula ligament. As long as all the soft tissue attachments to the fibula are sectioned as close to the fibula as possible then these structures do not need to be individually identified. Here an osteotome is being used to place soft tissues under tension prior to division.
