Posterior ankle decompression-The surgical incision
Another example of posterior ankle decompression. The Surgical incision lies
midway between the Achilles and posterior aspect of medial malleolus. Use scissors and blunt dissection through the fat layer to identify the well defined fascia of the flexor retinaculum. Once this is carefully opened the neurovascular bundle is immediately encountered. The Vessels lie superficially(2) and the nerve deeply(1).
