Tarsal coalition takedown - operative indications

A takedown of a tarsal coalition is predominantly an operation for the painful adolescent case. Little movement is gained and pain relief is the objective.

In adults, consideration should also be given to a corrective triple fusion. There are of course implications in terms of late onset secondary ankle arthritis with the latter course.
