Scarf osteotomy-The second cut
The second cut for scarf osteotomy is along the length of the metatarsal shaft(2). The cut should split the shaft into approximately equal dorsal and plantar portions. The blade should also be angled plantar-wards (as in the right hand picture) so that the metatarsal is also translated towards the sole of the foot when it is moved laterally.
