Scarf osteotomy-Translate lower portion laterally
Once the scarf osteotomy is mobile it is possible to translate the lower portion laterally(1) , thus narrowing the inter-metatarsal angle .If it does not translate adequately then the lateral cuts should be directly inspected for ridges/spikes which may be hindering movement. This is easily done using small laminar spreaders to open the osteotomy.
