Tibialis posterior reconstruction - operative indications


If rigid, corrective custom molded orthotics fail to adequately manage pain in a grade 2 Tibialis posterior Tendonosis, a Tibialis posterior reconstruction is indicated. In older patients a corrective triple fusion could be considered as an alternative.

There are various techniques to reconstruct the tibialis postertior using Tibialis anterior, Flexor hallucis or Flexor digitorum as tendon transfers.

As a preliminary stage of the operation a medialising calcaneal osteotomy is performed.
