The triple fusion-guide wire from talar neck
A guide wire is placed from the talar neck (1) across the subtalar joint. It should be angled from the medial half of the talar neck towards the posterior facet. A finger placed laterally into the sinus tarsi(2) is a useful point to aim towards.
