Operative indications and cases to be wary of

These are almost invariably neurological cases. The deformity addressed by the procedure is a fixed midfoot equinus. If the deformity is flexible then a Steindler procedure (plantar fascia release) may suffice.

Given the usual aetiology other intercurrent deformities should be looked for and corrected if present.

These are ankle equinus, midfoot adductus and plantar flexed first ray in particular.
