Weils Osteotomy - operative indications

Most often indicated to reduce forefoot plantar pressure in cases of transfer metatarsalgia where the symptomatic metatarsal(s) are longer than the arc of the underlying metatarsal arcade.

Also indicated to decompress symptomatic arthritic MTP joints as a salvage procedure.

Occasionally to assist in reduction of severe chronic dislocated MTP joint with soft tissue contracture.
